Welcome to Your SCA!

Trying anything new can be daunting, especially if you do not know where to start. Hearing stories and seeing pictures of Royalty, fighting, archery, arts and sciences can make you wonder “Where do I fit in?”. You have come to the right place. Our entire goal is to acquaint you with the current middle ages so you have a better idea of what you are getting into. First and foremost, the main SCA site (sca.org) has put together some wonderful resources for newcomers. You should definitely check it out, as it will give you a broad overview of the Society and what we are all about. Newcomers – Click here!

Now, a key piece of information you should know as a new player is a specific officer within every group who specifically deals with helping. This person is called the Chatelaine, and he or she can help answer more detailed questions you may have later.

You can reach our Baronial Chatelaine at this link: Chatelaine
You can also contact our Kingdom Chatelaine at this link: Kingdom Chatelaine

If you are ever at an event and see a lord or lady sporting a gold key on a green background, or a flag with the same, then the people wearing or near it can help you out with information, guidance, and sometimes even clothes and feast gear for loan (in case you forget your mug, which everyone has done at least once).

The biggest thing to remember is that we want you here! New people are the lifeblood of the SCA. Without new players, our Society dies, and as such most people will be more than willing to lend a helping hand to get you to your first event or to find you a tunic, dress, or tent (if its a camping event). Never be afraid to ask someone, that’s how we all learned, once upon a time! The site fee for the first event you attend is free, so please come and check us out.
